Hi,

Just a bit of research, but absolutely no need to reply.

Now it goes without saying, but I need to say it anyway, that everyone else on this forum fits definition a) below. If you know quite well a few fellow astrophotographers, and please don't mention names, could you categorise them into one or maybe 2 of these definitions

a) Someone well rounded, intelligent, discerning and unflappable.

b) Someone who takes up the hobby partly as an excuse to explain their grumpiness.

c) Someone who has unshakeable, eternal optimism.

d) Someone into astronomy but with a tendency towards masochism.

e) Someone with a good sense of humour/humor.

f) Someone who is placid but shows signs of slightly elevated self-oriented perfectionism.

Maybe you can come up with another definition.

I'm not revealing which of b, c, d or f I fit into.

Cheers,
Ray

Superb Ray! I like this - I must be in category e! My wife would agree...

Take care and thanks for all your input on the forum.

I think I can sum us all up, we're all bonkers.

Brian,
Thanks I'll add that to the original post. You certainly need one of those.

Simon, so are you an e) now I've added the one from Brian?

Thanks,
Ray

Hi Phil,

That's a given, but before I upset everyone on the forum, you could be very slightly bonkers right up to stark raving.

Cheers,

You could also add

On the spectrum with borderline obsessive nature lol

Apart from that peronally I think all apply to a certain extent! :)

Please ignore my dylexia wherever possible, just be thankful I can control my Tourettes ;)

Things to do, so little time!

Def an e for me, although in normal working life, I am known for being calm and unflappable, certainly not when it comes to astro.  I find a few choice expletives aimed at the errant kit soon makes it work  ;-)

The expletives never worked for me and even shouting abuse loudly at the equipment strangely had no effect. Definitely not popular with neighbours in the early hours as well! If only they understood what we go through.

Phil,

My neighbours thought they knew me too until I got into this! :) Never saw so many For Sale signs go up so quickly.
