Hi All,

I noticed Mike just submitted a re-do for the Rosette (Job 1201) due to clouds.  Welcome to re-take the data, but just thought I would let folks know that I managed to get a pretty good image from 260 out of the 560 subs, selected for the best FWHM/#stars and noise ratio.  I also did a little star halo reduction using PI by generating a mask using 3xRange Selection and Histogram Transformation) and then tweaked around the stars using CurvesTransformation.  I have evolved this technique to deal with the awful halos we have been getting, but in this case they weren't too bad.  Indeed the noise levels on stack were very low, and I had to do minimal noise reduction.  Certainly much, much  better than recent targets with more integration time.  Signs that the weather is finally improving?

However, I recognise that this version of the Rosette might still not meet folks exacting standards, but I hope the feedback is useful.  And all part of the Roboscopes model, including the promotion of discussion of future targets amongst syndicate members.

On the other hand themes recent data for the Jellyfish Nebula is horrible.  I would not, however, advocate for its re-submission as there is an acceptable but not brilliant image taken as part of the Jellyfish/Monkey Head mosaic about a month ago, albeit on a slightly different filed centre.

Brian
