Hi everyone

About 6 weeks ago we made a change to how we did things as a trial on Syndicate 14, after discussion with all the members it was agreed that we would no longer check the data and simply share it as this would speed up how quick members would get there data. any bad frames the members would submit a new request for replacement frames. its working very well.

This has now been implemented on all other syndicate piers with just Pier 5 left on the old system. It makes sense to keep all subscription piers working the same way for Roboscopes, so as from this morning we will follow suit with Pier-5

Cheers

Steve

Hi,

tough question - it´s like a double-edged sword to me:

Receiving data fast sounds nice and is allways welcome. And checking lightframes images myself is a "must" anyhow.

But: if there´s no more quality check it´s also more likely that we´ll have another data request and thus another set of data. This leads to a mix of data and download packages I'll have to manually take care about and merge data on my harddisc and consider for stacking etc. While not being a very neat person myself I guess that this could easily lead to a little data mess.

So for me: I wouldn´t mind to change to the suggested new process, but I wouldn't mind to stick with the old process either ;-)

If it helps to speed up your internal work-processes: go for it!

Morning

Yes, there is no right or wrong really but it does help keep all our processes the same which in turn means less mistakes. Piers-1, 2, 3 & 14 are all run this way and it seems to work well so it's illogical to have one pier working differently.

Not to mention Pete has enough on his plate keeping up with submission entry and everything else I suppose :)

Ps don't forget to start getting some Spring and early Summer objects in if you have not already seen my general post this morning smile

Steve,

If the data release is expedited under the new operating policy, will it allow us to have a chance to check the telemetry data for the night in question before it disappears (usually 3 days).  It would help in the data QC.

Thanks

Hi Brian, we do go over Telementry a few weeks back

"Our weather system is on a 24 hour graphical repeat but does not output to CSV file, I wish it did as I would have shared it
"

You could use meteoblue's historical data however if that would help?

Apart from this we are stuck in respect of Telemntry

Cheers

Steve

Morning all,

I would like to add that I actually have long term plans in regards to implementing some type of system whereby users can look at live and indeed historical data from our weather system.

This is an idea I have been mulling over for a few months and is something I hope to achieve sometime this year.

Steve,

Thanks.  Understand your frustration with this one too.  Fortunately I don't need any telemetry to tell that the first lot of data released under the new policy on Pier 5 is really bad (sh2-278) is really, really bad. Won't waste my time further on this one.

Suggest you change the "great data" from the tagline to "sometimes great data" to reflect to new policy.  [OK, so I know I am in the minority here.]
