I'd be able to provide a comparison between the previous incarnation using the 6200 sensor and the current one using the 2600 sensor, by spending an additional hour or so on it.

However, before committing to that I'd just like to know if anyone is interested.

Please let me know.

Cheers,

Ray

Hello Ray and Richard,

Yes, camera angle is -2.1 deg.

Also, the new filters show real promise over the old ones. I have uploaded my interpretation of the "old" IC443 data and a quick and dirty work on the new data, both in HSO. Of course no calibration files used for the new data as those are not yet available.

All the best

Manuel

You can definitely see the difference! Thanks for posting these Manuel.

We will get calibration files sorted this week, between the Spanish trip and the PAS show we are a tad behind cry

Thanks Steve but please concentrate on the other piers first, see one of my tickets for example. There is only one job we've received using the new camera on pier 14 and until the replacement subs I've already requested for that are done, I see no urgency on this pier.

That image was just a test on the only data we had, simply out of curiosity.

Cheers,

Ray

I kinda meant all of them to be fair Ray. Pete tends to just do them all when he can :)

On it none the less!

Steve

Can I ask where you found the calibration files for the new configuration? Couldn't see either darks or flats. The calibration files folder for Pier 14 only has a folder pointing to pre-change calibrations.

That's really useful to know Richard so thank you for that. Regarding the calibration files I didn't use any. Just applied Cosmetic correction to them, another testament to the smaller sensor and no longer such a dependence on flats, dust motes excepted

    Cheers,

    Ray

I will try that. Although doing it without calibration doesn't sit right!

      Hi Richard,

FYI. Each of the filters has 15 subs. I used the following.

Ha - the first 6 of the 15

      O3 - the last 12 of the 15

      S2- the last 3 of the 15

You may get better results using different subs.

      Hope this helps.

      Cheers,

      Ray

"Thanks for working out the camera angle not something I'm sure I could establish correctly. Remember though when Steve and Peter next visit chances are it'll change, so I look forward to you informing us of how close Steve gets it that time. We must live in hope that he doesn't do it after a bottle of two of vino. Could be 45°. :("

Getting the camera angle is really simple. You take a single reasonable sub before processing (I used on of hte Ha's from the set) and run ImageSolver on it. I don't change any of the defaults. Just choose the active window and the script pulls all the coordinates and resolution from the FITS header. Takes a few seconds, then ImageSolver reports back a whole bundh of parameters, including the camera angle.

Can I ask where you found the calibration files for the new configuration? Couldn't see either darks or flats. The calibration files folder for Pier 14 only has a folder pointing to pre-change calibrations.

      Hi Richard,

Nice hearing from you and thanks for the replies. Yes even given the very limited data to work with the results look very promising, particularly with regard to those abominable star halos. Something that may take us ages to mitigate, if we bother about them at all.

Well that work load may have happened for you at the right time, particularly with the forecasts for the next week or so. Gives us all an opportunity to catch up on things.

Look forward to seeing some of your submissions shortly. Hope all is well.

      Cheers,

      Ray,

Looking at the original subs, I get a camera angle of 2.1 degrees. Do you agree?

      Very nice Ray!

I have been quiet for a couple of months with some heavy project work. Hoping to get back into the syndicate from April.

I'll be submitting some narrowband jobs shortly to keep the pot boiling.

Jellyfish captured using new camera on pier 14.

      Processing steps in Pixinsight-

      Calibrated using Cosmetic correction only

      Stacked Ha, o3, s2

Minor crop applied to stacked images

      Note, no background extraction used

      Stacks combined as SHO

Colour adjustment using Background neutralisation and Colour Calibration

      Ha 30 minutes

      o3 60 minutes

      s2 15 minutes

The new filters are showing promising results I think.
