Hello everyone,
While Pier 2 is down and being repaired I thought it might make things a little easier for those of you struggling with the unreliable columns on P12 to create a defect map for the sensor.
Its not uncommon for CCDs to have these sorts of defects however dealing with them can sometimes be a little tricky.
I will make the the Pixinsight Instance available to download. Simply run it after calibration and before stacking. For those using Batch Pre-processing you will need to point the cosmetic correction tab to the instance for it to correct the defects. You can in addition alter the cosmetic correct to take care of any hot or cold pixels by activating the detection tick boxes and using the sliders.
Here is an example of an uncalibrated frame from Pier12 showing the artefacts against the repaired and stacked result.
Hope this helps

No problem Ray, you can still run the PI script to help with any residual banding

Peter,
That is very much appreciated. I had in the meantime used the pixinsight script, previously unknown to me, to generate one, but the result did not match up to yours. It helps knowing what you are doing and understanding all of the options for sure.
Once again many thanks. I'll go back and run the calibrated files through cosmetic correction again using your one. Very timely as well as I've only just just started working on M16.
Best regards,
Ray
