With imaging time so much at a premium, I wonder whether there is any way for us to get a preview of the data that is being collected. A partial download in effect.

When (if) data is flowing well and the queue is being rattled through, we can add additional subs to improve S/N or boost a weaker part of the image as each job completes. With data only a trickle, it would give me confidence to be able to look at partial sets to judge whether things are framed correctly and we have the right filters and exposures. It would avoid 'wasting' time on a project that is not going to deliver.

Richard I would very much welcome that if it can be done. The alternative but less ideal way would be to enter a preliminary booking for what you thought was needed to assess the data (partial download) , then upon receipt and evaluation make the second booking. There would be a delay until the second booking was made and some potential imaging time lost, but I imagine that would not be much of a problem.

To be fair that puts a large workload on Phil and he is busy adding other functionality to the website for users already

In order to do this, Phil would have to

Check partial data set (Blink)
Zip partial data sets
Upload partial data sets
inform users about partial set upload
Then repeat the work again when the jobs complete

You would get me shot LOL

Thanks Steve for the quick reply. So plan B then? Leave it to us to plan.

Cheers

Always worth asking :)

Talking of that, Ray was asking about the previous submissions that we added to the pier to get it up and running. I did say to ray also that if we have put any in you want to replace then just shout.

You could maybe with good framing on certain objects where they are close together eg HH and M42 inadvertently make some sexy mosaics  but still have individual objects in there own rights

just musing out loud is all
