Hi everyone

first the good news - I have just had confirmation that the "new" latest generation Antlia 50mm unmounted LRGB HOS 3nm filters are arriving next week after a 6 month Covid hiatus to replace the existing Baader filters

Bad news, the latest flats etc will be useless after the next trip on the 22nd August and the camera angle may not be quite 100% the same when I re-fit it

Possible good news - we could fit them in the spring to save disturbing anything with the system for now as its back up and running etc

Please let me have your thoughts and I will go with the flow on what you decide

Steve

Hi steve.
if you replace the filter , you wont redo the flat at the same time ?

my concern is for jobs that are start and may not have finish the 22 august . It is going to be difficult to mix data of different filter set.
For jobs that are not started it will not be a problem except if mosaic are running

may be a decision around 15 august ?

We should be able to get new flats done within a week of our return however thats the east part

You have already guessed the main reason I mentioned it is because of how many jobs are already in the system.

This was the main reason I felt it best to ask the question and let you guys discuss

It is easier for me not to do on this trip to be fair however I wanted you to have all options :)

Steve,

Thanks for the offer. A decision maybe in a couple of weeks, but looking at what is in the queue I reckon we'd end up having to restart so much that the gain ain't worth the pain.

Cheers,

Ray

Personal view - I would leave it for the moment. We are just getting started again and have a load of targets queued up. We killed a whole bunch of projects in the queue for the last upgrade. With inevitable delays to our imaging programme. For me, we need to focus on delivering good data for a while rather than going in search of a small gain (I know it is a significant gain, but in the grand scheme of things it is small).

Sensing a big leave alone, this is fine by me as we have a lot to do :)

I will use them on another scope for now and then replace yours in the Spring wet season me thinks. If everyone is Ok with that ?
