On both mobile device and PC I'm finding it impossible to get past the first page of topics, so cannot access an old topic I posted. Also when selecting 'My Topics' it is just repeats what I see by selecting 'Recent Topics', so unable to access it that way either. This is most likely user error, so any advice greatly welcomed.

Thanks in advance,

A frustrated forum member. :)

PS
Has anyone imaged using Pier 1 yet?

Steve notified me during the first week of June that there was now a problem which could not be fixed until a subsequent visit, thus not all my data had been collected. Several days ago I received the data, some collected during May and the remainder July. Not having seen any communications on this forum to the contrary I should be surprised that apparently no-one else has used this scope. This could be the case, however, if anybody else has then I wonder how they are able to process their data in the total absence of calibration files.

Example below:

Ray, calibration files for all piers was done last night with the remainder this evening, we have waited for full moon rather than waste
good imaging time to get this done

Phil will be zipping them up on Monday  and they will be available in the my data area on the
website. While we were at it we also took a new set of darks and Bias
for piers 3 & 7

PS the other Issue I will ask phil to have a look at but I am not having the same issue and cannot seem to replicate it :(

Hi Ray,

Have you logged in first before attempting to view any topics? Particularly on mobile device :)

Kind regards

Hi Phil,

Okay some progress. :)

I indeed logged in first and experienced the problem described. Only recently discovered that you could access the Warm Room without logging in.

Just now after logging in I see a change. Selecting Recent Topics now  will show the next page as being 2 upon which you see the following 20 topics. :) Prior to today all I was shown was a box with More in it. However, what do I need to press to see the original page? Even reselecting Recent Topics at the  top will still continue to display page 2 and I haven't found a way to get back to page 1 yet.I  had to select My Topics to access this post to reply to you.

When selecting My Topics, at the bottom of the 20 displayed items I just see a MORE option, which was what showed previously with Recent Topics. Accessing this does nothing and it stays on page 1. Up until today this is what was happening with Recent Topics too. This, Recent Topics, as I mentioned works wonderfully now. Just need to find a way to get to a previous page. :) So looks like the Recent Topics is fixed, but still remains an issue for My Topics.

If you can follow that, then congratulations.

Hope this helps, now back outside after a lunch break and thanks for investigating this and making some fixes. :)

Best regards,

Ray

(Much less frustrated)

Update:

Definitely user error and poor eyesight.! :(  Just noticed that there are page numbers, extremely faint to my eyes, and had to zoom in to see they existed. First time on a forum so that's my lame excuse. Assumed tapping 'More' would take me to the next. Apologies Phil.

Hi Phil,

Since I'm not allowed to directly reply to some of your posts, very wise move I must say, I'll do it here.

Just read your post regarding all the new calibration files but almost missed your final comment. Lol. :)

I'd never do that. Have to admit it to being around when Doctor Who first aired, in glorious black and white, since that's what they made it in, and anyway black and white television sets were all we had. Now roughly figure out my age and that helps explain my difficulties with using the forum. :)  Besides Phil, why a dalek! (Anyone reading this who hasn't seen Phil's post on new calibration files will obviously conclude I've lost the plot at this point.)

Could never figure out why a supposed super intelligent species would invent daleks. Had their creator never seen a flight of stairs before. Clever editing meant that most of the time they never encountered them I think. No, not a dalek, would be some form of biped robot Phil and Steve. But rest easy now.

Just had time while writing this to download those for pier 1, tonight I'll try them out. A brief examination of flats was kind of revealing though. Is the obs kept locked? Now in my long lifetime I've inspected many flats, tenants usually keep them in reasonable order. Having looked at one of these flats I think while Steve was away squatters must have moved into pier 1, never seen such a mess before. :) There's barely any space left for any more dust bunnies! As long as they do the job that's fine. :)

Cheers Phil I appreciate the effort you are all putting in with so much to do to get things automated as much as possible, which also needs to be completed.
Cheers,
Ray

Stairs....But Daleks can Fly Ray!

Well at least they can in later series LOL

Ps Spain is a dust bowl, so huge dust dunnies are unavoidable so we have to clean all optics every 6 months or so and repeat flats :(

HI Steve,

Definitely not in my time did Daleks have the ability to fly. Must have upgraded them when they realised chasing after the Doctor and companions just on a set of castor wheels was never going to work.

Regarding these new calibration files, obviously they work judging by the great image posted by Simon of part of the Veil nebula on this pier.

This should have been a straightforward case of calibrating using the new bias, darks and flats then aligning and stacking! Never before has that phrase spoken by the late Frankie Howard, "Infamy, Infamy, they've all got it in for me" seemed more appropriate than right now.

Calibrated and aligned the luminance frames but before stacking I had a peek at one of the light frames. Stretched the image but not a lot to see, same with a super stretch. Stretched single image shown as Exhibit A, assuming I can load the images. Tried a couple of different ways of calibrating, but still the same problem. Repeated calibration but this time just using 2 out of the 3 bias, dark and flat. By process of elimination, last one tried of course, it was the master bias causing whatever the issue was. Never seen this before anyone any idea what causes this.

Star aligned each frame and stacked them.  Exhibit B is the master luminance flat file. Whatever is that on the right hand edge of this?

It's likely that this flat had removed the dust bunnies shown earlier in this thread from the images taken in May. Unfortunately the flat taken this month has a lot that didn't exist in May! Exhibit C is the new stretched stack.

Two steps forward and three back!

It is good to see you on here again Ray, and I hope you are having a nice evening. I thought it slightly amusing with all this talk of the Daleks that we could slightly offset things with reference to Data off Star Trek... after all data seems to be what we deal with lot! Have a good weekend. Simon
