For my next project I am star-hunting. There is one particular variable star in Cygnus that has been the subject of HST and other professional telescopes. I imaged it two years ago from home but my equipment and seeing conditions don't do it justice.

For this to work I cannot allow the star to saturate but I want the exposure to be long enough to pick up the surrounding nebula. The KAF-8300 has a relatively shallow 25ke- Full Well Depth so the exposure can't be too long. I ran the numbers through my calculator and came up with an exposure of 30 seconds.

Viewing the equipment page I see that the suggested exposure is in the 300s-1800s range. RoboScopes is really great with supplying a very wide range of darks for Pier 4 and 6 but I am wondering if 30s is too short to ask for the TMB?

Thank you,
Brian
