There is a vast emission nebula complex centred on zeta-Oph - SH2-27.

A nice image of it is this one done with a 200mm lens: https://www.astrobin.com/39tu57/

However, note the integration time (30h) and the resolution 8arcsec/pixel.

I mocked up a 2x2 mosaic for pier 14. It covers a lot of the emission and interesting structure, but it does not cover the whole target.

Is it worth spending some time on this or is it too big and too diffuse?

Hi
the image on Astrobin is impressive !
The Gain of the image is 0 on narrowband to preserve dynamic, i dont know at what gain Pier14 is set .
if we have to do 4x30H mozaic , it is going to quite long .
This object is also low in the horizon , he has shoot from australia (Steve , when to you open Roboscope-Australia ? :) )

I agree a fantastic image but not something I believe we'd be able to do any justice to. More suitable for pier 4 I imagine.

Presumably it's a broadband target and it looks like it already transits around start of astronomical dark.

I agree that it is both a little late in the season and a difficult, low target. It has however, been imaged very successfully in NB, but with shorter FL and from further South.

It was just a thought as I scanned around the sky for targets.
