This is my rendition of NGC 6914 in Cygnus (job 2146).

NGC 6914 is the small reflection nebula near the centre of the image. It is surrounded by emission and reflection areas and dark clouds.

Question. I seem to be seeing arcs to the right of centre running top to bottom alternating darker bands with a red cast and lighter bands with a blue cast. Are they real, an artefact of processing, or am I being fooled by the well-known tendency of the human brain to see patterns where none exist?

For some reason I can't reply to your message, maybe because I am not a Pier 5 member. I see the bands you are talking about. Suggest going through the uncalibrated subs and see if any have clouds. And the clouds could be thin so have to look for star bloating. If no clouds then could be an issue with the flats over correcting."

Thanks Daniel. I will check out all the subs. I did not spot anything obvious with Blink, but I may have missed something.

Overcorrectiion with the flats would be a concern as the flats are all fresh.
