The pier is back up and running now, we will start with a couple of test jobs and then turn on all the new jobs. All older jobs I have paused at present because of the new scope, FOV & camera angle.
Personally I feel its best to get rid of all the older jobs out of the queue and start again. You can simply re add an old job into the portal to suit to new pier-14 setup :)
How do members feel about this suggestion ?

Great idea, but you may want to consider this.
For a short while just keep the old jobs suspended to give some people time to look at what they had entered. They can then resubmit that job adjusted for the new scope and camera angle. Also they might consider amending the numbers and exposure times on any LRGB entries present, on the basis of what was recommended on the RGB vs LRGB post. Once that's been done they can easily ask for the old job to be removed. Then after whatever deadline you impose, you can delete all remaining old jobs.

Good morning Steve,
At present I believe all the new jobs submitted to pier 14 are requesting equal numbers of subs for RGB. Do we yet have a recommended ratio to use? Now might be a good time to start trying it out if there is one.

I forgot to mention this, but Michael (ramba.zamba) has already written for himself an app to assist with working out the numbers required. This would certainly help me out if it was available.
As you can see it allows you to enter the total integration time and exposure time, then calculates the numbers to be entered when submitting the job.

I haven't quite understood how the RGB Qe calculation works (how the numbers are calculated in Michael's program). If someone could explain this to me or Michael could send me his program code, I would integrate the tool on my website. So the tool would be available to everyone.

Hi Darius,
it is based upon the QE of the sensor within the bandpass of the different filters, as depicted in the attached image for the ASI2600MM-pro camera. The same applies to the ASI6200MM and the ASI461MM. From there one ca derive the number of needed subs for each filter, given a desired number of hrs of total integration time and a sub duration.
Michael has written a script to help with these calculations.

Until the calibration data is made available, which I assume will be shortly, here is some preliminary data from job 2201 of ic1396 , the Elephant Trunk nebula which we are all familiar with.
The subs were all 180s exposures, with 5 each in RGB and 20,30,40 respectively in Ha, O3 and S2. As noted below only 30 of the S2 were used.
Caution
These images have come from uncalibrated data, the only calibration being, Cosmetic Correction and Background Extraction. Only a quick glance of the data was carried out and as a result 10 from the S2 data were excluded, these appeared to me to be slightly out of focus. Also all the included images are in JPEG format, a 'lossy' format.
Early analysis leads me to conclude that the Ha filter appears to be the weakest in terms of aberrations, you may however arrive at a different conclusion. To assist you are some images. Refer back to the cautionary notes above.
Included are 5x5 panel mosaics from Aberration Inspector using a panel size of 1024 pixels, which you should be able to zoom into at 100%. Included are close ups of the Garnet star, Mu Cephei, taken in Ha, O3 and S2, as this star was not part of the mosaics. The RGB images of that star appeared fine and are not included.
Owing to the amount of data there needs to be a second post, which will follow shortly.
The following images are sequenced in Ha, O3 and S2 order. The Aberration Inspector mosaics followed by close ups of Mu Cephei.

Looks like we have a few tweaks left on the mount but initial data looks great.
Ray thanks for the images, 180s for NB appears to be more than enough. I have put in some 120s narrowband jobs and will post the results if my work life ever gets out of the way.
F3.3 really is ridiculously fast and the QE of these modern CMOS sensors is just brilliant.
I think once this scope is dialled in we’re going to have a beast from the East on our hands!
