Phil & Manuel have been teaming up again ....

This is still in "beta" so is not pretty but it's working fine, its roughly a 30k object data base of the northern hemisphere so should help all users with putting job requests in

Please feel free to test

A very welcome introduction, from someone who once inadvertently forgot to put a 'minus' in front of the declination. It took more than a few moments for the penny to drop, as it were, to realise why I wasn't seeing what I expected to.

I haven't accessed it yet, but I assume one can make adjustments to the coordinates for some fine tuning.

Cheers,

The IT mob have done a little more work on the database today and moved a few things around and put some extra text, in the coming weeks Manuel is going to extend the database to allow a larger star and an extra deep sky catalogue.

The star catalogue will make life easier framing a deep sky object if you know what the stars designation is you can put in the middle of the FOV.

The database goes down to 20º as its simply not worth imaging below this even with wide-field setups, although always be mindful of your piers horizon limits as these may not be as low as 20º in many cases, especially the longer focal length scopes we have available :)

Sounds good. Any plans to make this available to the few remaining piers where those using this for the first time?

it's being rolled out to syndicate piers first then hosting, hourly piers will be last as Phil said it requires a lot more coding behind the scenes.
