Firstly do you think we should for now only submit those targets that will have risen sufficiently, maybe for at least 2 hours above 25 degrees altitude by mid August? If that were agreed we could create a second post titled September and October targets to which we would add newly rising objects during those months. As jobs already submitted from this July and August list were being completed those rising first from the September and October list would start to be submitted.

I don't mind going through the suggested targets using Telescopius to produce a list of them sequenced by their 'rise times', to assist with the idea of only adding current objects as and when they have risen sufficiently. Right now it is unlikely that there will be a situation where the pier will be idle due to nothing being visible, as happened a couple of months ago, so I think we can take manual control over the vagaries of the imaging algorithm for now, and get our submissions back a bit sooner. Just a thought.

Hi Florent,

Thank you for submitting Sh2-157, that should make a really fine picture with all those great targets you can see within it. I'm looking forward to the 2 panel mosaic you've created from the original M16 submission as well.

Cheers,

Ray

If after we have re inputted everything now the changes have taken place one of you could check our submissions to make sure everything is correct I would be grateful, we are only human after all :)

Steve,

Sh2-132 aka lion nebula.

Fortunately or unfortunately that submission was removed, since you can no longer see it when you look at the current submission list. I'm assuming that it had already made its way into the joblist since it does appears there as "0010 P14 lion..." and data has started being collected. It does not show as 1049 unfortunately, it does so just as the lion nebula.

That job 1049 was submitted prior to the camera angle change, but given its size wouldn't be drastically affected by such a change. That is to say that images taken in both horizontal and vertical orientation would align, with the resulting cropping of one set not impacting too greatly on the nebula itself. You'd end up with roughly a square crop.

Richard subsequently made the corrected submission for this target under the catalogue number Sh2-132, showing as job 1067. We now have duplicates, but not easy to spot given the 2 different identifiers used, with Richard's having the better coordinates and exposure times.

I'm unable to view my submission since Steve as requested removed it, and cannot remember what subs I requested. I would be happier to continue with just 1067 the one Richard made. We could just let both run to completion but I'm mindful of all the other jobs submitted right now. Comments invited.

If someone does go ahead and remove my submission "0010" it's vital that we receive all the data collected so far from that job when it is removed from the joblist. I would like to combine that data with that from 1067 accepting the need to crop. You may choose to just use the job 1067 data only and not crop.

Any comments or questions welcome.

Follow up on another submission where I made a prior submission to come later.

Cheers,
Ray

Hi Phil,

I've never managed to juggle more than 3 balls in the air for any length of time, I imagine that's rather similar to handling umpteen piers at a time when the skies are clear pretty well night after night. How on earth can you keep track when something out of the ordinary happens like the job I'm referring to. Tie another knot in a hankie? :)

Sorry, just a reminder on the above data set - 0010 p14 lion.... I requested that the job be halted prior to it completing, but with the data that it had captured being sent to us. This is to supplement the data from Richard's job 1067. Fuller details appear a few posts behind.

Cheers,

Ray

Hi Ray

I am pretty sure I removed this a couple of weeks ago ?

0010 p14 lion

I am struggling to see it in the list of jobs, although I may be going blind :)

Steve

Please ignore my dylexia wherever possible, just be thankful I can control my Tourettes ;)

Things to do, so little time!
