Here is my version of the ic434 data from Pier 6. Alnitak was a bit of a beast to tame but isn't it always. Comments or questions are very welcome.

I have been working on this, but coming up short. I can get the main upper areas no problem, but the lower darker pink ares have got me scratching my head. I can get those pink but only if the whole lot goes pink... Can you advise me how you did that? Learning still at a ripe old age :-)

Hello Mark, The issue is the influence of Alintak and the way its colour (flair) carries across the frame. In the high signal areas generally you wont have too much of an issue to balance the colour. Its when you get to the low signal areas where it becomes more tricky. Those l areas become more unreliable as the information that is there is much closer to the noise levels, That is why its much more difficult to control.
I use a combination of gradient control tools in Photoshop and Pixinsight, the DBE tool is very good at leveling the playing field where these more complex colour cast come into play. Layering of the Ha dataset will help immensely. One of my tricks for that in Photoshop is to remove the stars out of the Ha and turn it into an RGB frame. Fill the Blue and the Green channels in black. You should now have a red frame with no stars. Add that layer to the RGB and change its mode to Screen and back off the opacity. This is one of the most effective ways to add Ha to an RGB image.
