The ring acquired last month from Pier 1.

I had read about the outer shells, but never thought that I would have data that shows them so well.  35 5 minute  Ha subs and 60 5 minute Oiii subs.

Can just see the trace of Ha on a second outer shell...

This is a real candidate for some HDR acquisition.  Need to put it on the list may next year.

 

I think we have taken two lots of data for this that can be combined ?

Hello Steve,

I have combined both datasets. It was a big challenge for me to make the faint HA clouds in the background visible without burning out the Ring Nebula. A large halo in the Oiii channel made the processing even more difficult. In PS I could suppress it well. This is now my first version of the Ring Nebula.

Not an easy object for sure, as bright as it is, the outer shells are always a tough ask!
