I have always wanted to be able to process an image of these strange objects, but as expected Navi Cassiopeia [gamma Cassiopeia] would be an issue, like Alnitak in Orion. Stretching the object blew out the nebulae, so I had to gradually do things, and I had to be inventive with some range selection masks and a further blurring of them, in order to reduce the overbearing brightness of this star. All in all I am pretty happy with it; I am not sure if I have things right, but it is all I can do for now.  Thanks everyone… Pier 5 uses a Takahashi Epsilon 180 F/2,8 astrograph, on a Skywatcher EQ 8 mount with a ZWO ASI071 Pro Colour CMOS camera. Good morning Simon,  I'm onto this before you post any more.   Definitely a challenge you set yourself on this one. I love the composition and the brilliance of the star colours surrounding it. How you toned down that star is excellent work. From the image I wouldn't have suspected that it was a problem, I've seen other images where it clearly is, and it shows. I'm wondering if at some point you'll decide to collect a bit more data and find a way to boost the "ghost" and retain the balance you've achieved.  Why would I suggest that? To be honest and I know you would probably be the first to admit, the 'ghost' is a tad bit too ghostly! How on earth can a ghost be too ghostly?  Please bear in mind this is what I with my dodgy eyesight sees. A seal or porpoise heading towards the star at the top part of the ghost, and maybe a hammerhead shark that inadvertently rammed a submarine and suffered a broken nose at the bottom. All in jest Simon as I'm sure you realise. I applaud the great effort you made which definitely succeeded.  Best regards,  Ray  Apart from one's self the harshest and worst critics are those that are hopeless themselves. Moi.

Ray, It is great that you pipped me to my own post! I have got another to put on the forum - I have just finished it, between work. I am with you with the Hammerhead, which reminds me of a Jeremy Wade programme I saw recently where he caught one - River Monsters. Ray, you are such a help to me and you keep me spurring on. I hope you will be posting something soon. One day I might get some more data for this, but then other imagers might be able to get more out of this than me... Thanks and take care. Simon
