Glad this section exists since I wouldn't want anyone to falsely associate these images with the excellent genuine ones members have posted.
Peter yesterday posted his rendition of the Rho Ophiuchi cloud complex. Like many others I've seen on here I'd rush that off to a print shop. In my post I mentioned my disappointment that the images the awards are given to in APOTY (Astronomy Photographer Of The Year) competition these days has evolved. I admit that I'm a fuddy duddy, but I also admire nice nightscape images. Avant Garde does have its place I guess. Several years ago I suspect that Peter's image would have at least made the short list, now I'm not so sure.
I recently completed stacking the subs I had for ic5068, south of ngc7000. which is only a mono image taken through a h-a filter. Pretty boring and of no need for post processing. I did however espy the possibility of making 2 images from it that might be considered avant garde. Certainly not of a high enough standard to gain any award.
Attached, unless I mess up again are 2 images, the first one sub accompanied by a stack of aligned images. As it's late I'll post these now and later this morning I'll post the 2 images I saw in the stack, emphasised to highlight them. Having never ever taken an ink blot test I shudder to think how I might have been evaluated by the things I imagine I see.
Take care. The old man of the forum.
