Hiya just a quickie, the clear skies have meant we are now chewing through your data fast, so the mount has nothing to do early doors, maybe some dark nebula like the shark nebula would be good to name but one large very interesting object that's up early. to be fair there is plenty of this dark stuff up at present https://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap150907.html Dont forget to add moon down to an objects like this other evening targets that rise early M92 Glob M3 glob cluster again M81 M82 are both up NGC7023 Iris M68 cluster in Hydra (Not up for long) M53 Glob NGC3242 in Hydra looks small ? M101 Galaxy M104 Galaxy NGC6572 sexy planetary M94 Galaxy M106 Galaxy M51 Galaxy NGC2403 Galaxy, pretty ? M63 Galaxy NGC6826 planetary (small) NGC6210 planetary (small) M66 Galaxy NGC2841 Galaxy in ursa major HTH Steve Ps some cracking dark nebs are in Cepheus https://telescopius.com/deep-sky/search?page=2 Also http://afesan.es/Deepspace/slides/vdB%2018%2CLDN%201434%2CLBN%20720%2CLBN%20721%20%28Perseus%29.html LDN841 LDN638
Hi Steve, Thanks for that info. Apologies for my first submission of The Shark Nebula where I accidentally pressed enter before entering any sub times and numbers! Have resubmitted it, with a total of 7 hours integration, so hopefully will keep the mount active for a while. Nice object potentially for those with the right skills. Unfortunately only just saw this post after recently logging in, as we are not subscribed until we see a new post and act accordingly to be informed. Would have submitted earlier if I'd known. I suggest we make remaining May submissions on this post, and in future I'll make a new post every 2 months, for example, June & July submissions, Augusts & September submission, whereby everyone will know where to put a new one. Cheers, Ray

No worries, I will ask Pete to submit it Agreed a submission page is a good idea and I hope you don't mind nudges from me when the mount is laying idle ? PS on another note did you get m57 from p8 with the new camera/settings ? The cal files should be up tomorrow if all goes well Steve

Steve, Yes I have received the new files for M57, but only had a peek at one of the frames so far which apart from a bit of vignetting looks fine. Nice to see the job queue getting a bit shorter after a few more targets completed. I've looked and it appears there is enough left to be done before we need to submit any new ones. As soon as I receive the data for Ngc7822, which was to establish the filter ratios, I'll submit the balance of exposures. While I remember there is an issue with stars near the bottom right corner, triangular shape, obviously something that can only be done on site. Because of the wide fov there is it's not an issue on the majority of objects. Kind regards, Ray

Just to clarify Ray, as we are in p14 and also discussing P8. I presume you mean P14 ? If so I will take a look while we are out there which if all finally goes well will be in two weeks. You will know for sure because we will say on the forum that the obsy is down so we can get the maintenance done. Steve

Steve, Yes that's Pier 14 and is very apparent in that one corner. Well if you're off to Spain soon, I hope you don't mind all those swabs you're going to need to have shoved up. Those tests are pretty expensive to have done as well. Cheers, Ray

Not looking forward to the test itself but I feel 3 tests per person at £120each test will make me smart more The issue is its that or the end of June and I simply need to get the work done. I do feel its stupid however as both myself and Pete will be double jabbed On the hunt for cheaper tests x 6 as I have been told if you know where to shop you can buy the proper test kit for £60 a pop Steve

FYI I hope that Richard doesn't mind as he made the original bookings. I've just made 2 submissions to replace the bad frames I've noticed when looking through the 2 mosaic panels of the North American nebula region we now have back. The data for the 3rd and last panel has started being collected. I'm really impressed with this set up for emission nebula capture, not quite so much for galaxies though. Mind you that's only because I fail to produce good broadband images. My narrowband ones aren't much better, but the artistic licence one can apply to the colours really helps disguise the fact you're not entirely sure what you're doing. Cheers, Ray

To avoid the mount sitting there at the start of darkness I am about to submit a short job. Interesting pair of tiny galaxies which will be marginally better after the reducer is removed. I'm just interested to see what they look like cropped in all the way. If you've something else that would start the pier up and running close to darkness, then please reply. It is centred on ngc4027 another tiny object but will include one other insignificant galaxy plus the antennae galaxies, something more suited to the PlaneWave, however these are all way below its imaging limits. Hopefully this should not interfere with anything we are more urgently waiting for. Cheers, Ray

Hi Richard, Steve mentioned that the mount was having problems, something I experienced whenever trying to move a mount when it is positioned very close to the pole. I submitted a replacement ngc188 a cluster which is fairly close and the data has since been downloaded. A few subs there suffered a slight issue which can be seen when running blink. I cannot remember which subs right now. Hope that helps you. Cheers Ray
