To whom it may concern, :)

The team can add to any job queue without using the submission form, for example to carry out tests. These will not appear in the list of submissions, so details such as filter choice, exposure time, number of exposures, coordinates and notes are not visible to anyone else. No reason for us to know these and that I fully understand. However, that ought to be the only reason to submit a job that way.

For the occasional job submitted on our behalf by 'to whom it may concern' it would be helpful if it was done the same way that us members have to by using the submission form.

At present jobs submitted on our behalf show up in the job queue but little information is available to us. Simply being informed that it is something in Cygnus is a little bit vague. How can we tell what it is when no name is mentioned? A target name would help avoid subsequent duplication by a member, and the coordinates would allow the opportunity for someone to submit a job alongside to form a mosaic.

Nuff said, you know who you are. :)

Ray, I direct input as I am admin, its simpler for me to do it this way :)

1, When have Steve special jobs not ever been brilliant and different

2, you all get the data anyway

3, the chances of a "Steve special" being boring and a normal job that most members would put in is in the order of 0-5%

4, Some of the time I add jobs to piers because most members don't seem to bother, they sit back waiting for others to do so. It means the piers sit for hours each night at certain times of the month with nothing to do. which makes a syndicate less decent value for money for all concerned.

5, On the whole I forward plan more than everyone else so my jobs tuck in between your own as they have not risen yet and I catch them before you have even realised they are available

6, last but not least I do it this way as its meant to be a surprise like Xmas, you don't know what it is until you open it. However with it being me, you do know it will be different that's for sure LOL

Finally, I am more than happy to remove all my "Steve specials" if you desire, may I suggest members add some themselves, as well as us being astronomers its also a business and the best way to showcase a syndicate if more people see lots of data and decent different jobs from our piers.

Its how we attract more members to the group and make Roboscopes better and pay for equipment upgrades etc

As a side note:

Forward planning, I say it every few months, you should now be putting in jobs for the next 3/4 months as they pier starts them earlier than you realise. I get so bored of repeating this :(

Its more or less summer in Spain and our best weather spell until mid/late November so now is the time to make hay whilst the sun shines ladies & gentlemen :)

Hello Steve,

Thanks for your reply. Please do not remove the Steve Jobs. I am always happy when I see such jobs, because they are usually something special.

Hi to whom it may concern,

I agree with everything you said and thank you for that and everything you do. :) You actually answered me in your very first sentence.

"I direct input as I am admin, its simpler for me to do it this way."

Precisely. The older you get the lazier you get and I should know.

Unfortunately the rest of your reply, which I basically agree with, doesn't address the issue raised. It was just a request to keep us more fully informed and not to suggest that you stop doing what you do. Matter closed.

Cheers,
