Hello all  i want to plan a txwo pan mosaic of the winter prime target, horsehead nebula and orion  Capture d’écran 2021-09-14 204028.png but for the exposure duration i m not sure what to put  may be 120s LRGB  for the whole pane and some 30s L for orion in order to get HDR result ?  what do you think of ?  florent
Hi Florent,  A very popular choice, one I think we all had in mind. Taking into consideration what we currently have queued up, it's possible that the set up may be altered when its time comes. We'd just need to take into consideration the smaller fov, unless Steve plays a trick on us and rotates the camera about 90 degrees. I'm sure he won't, but that might depend on how many cervezas he'd had earlier.  Cheers,  Ray

Hi Florent,  Oh! I've experienced this situation in the past and missed seeing relevant posts. Unless you religiously log in regularly and read a new topic, you will not automatically be notified.  Edit re misinformation above. (You need to check the box to subscribe and be notified of all replies. You will automatically be subscribed if you post a reply.)  It was Vikas who initiated the discussion on going native focal length, but this continued on another topic where Steve mentioned the possibility of a visit in November.  Hopefully someone who knows what to do, will respond and supply the actual links.  In the meantime the 2 threads are, "Shall we change back to native focal length?", by Vikas on 07 Sep. The other, where Steve gives details of the visit, is on the thread, "12 panel mosaic of the.....", by Mike on 05 Sep.  Cheers,  Ray

ok , i will submit only on frame of the horse nebula so . A 12 pane mosaic, may be a bit too much in pixel size .   With the corner being too much compromise , i think we have better to stick to 2 pane mosaic on the larger border of the image. or to  put the conrner of empy frame in the midlle of nowhere  as say Steve , with such a fov i understand he surprised that we launch so much mosaic.  but as always , we want what we havent   may be a better idea to put a 6200MM on the 105mm  sigma

Hi Florent,  If Steve manages to get out there say early November, then we might consider starting the mosaic from then. Not sure what you have planned so this probably is a nonstarter , but maybe do the top and bottom sections first, then start on the middle. In the meantime let's see this gigamosaic. In terms of pixels still less than with the present setup. Who knows come Black Friday someone may have a 128gb ram computer for sale at a good price.  Now Steve put that idea of using a fisheye lens with that camera back in your head and try to forget about it.   Cheers,  Ray

this camera has quite a high dynamic range Vikas so I dont think you will go far wrong at 20/30s for the core Steve

Hi All, I can see that we have a Horsehead submitted for this pier, but I can't see an M42. I would like to create a deep LRGB image. It still fits into the native FL of the FSQ like this: M42.png It will be an HDR image and I would suggest. L - 15x 10sec, 15x30, 15x60, 15x120 R - 20x15, 20x60, 20x240 G- 20x15, 20x60, 20x240 B- 20x15, 20x60, 20x240 Ha- 20x15, 20x60, 20x240 We could split the job in two. Looking at half the number of subs in the first job to check we have sufficient detail. Let me know what you think. I don't want to block Florent's original plan, but would like to get a nice deep image.
