Hi All

Let me introduce myself

My name is Paul and I am a new member of the syndicate.  I live in Lichfield UK,  about 15kn north of Steve's premises in Birmingham.

I have been imaging for just over 18 months and have just got bored with the permacloud of the last 4 months ( there were 3 or 4 clear nights in August, but I was on holiday for them.

Highlights so far, apart from joining you lot ;)  are getting one of my images in as image of the month in last December's Sky at Night Magazine and a shortlist for the newbie category for this years Astrophotographer of the Year competition

Kit wise, I try to run an esprit 100 with a starizona reduceer, an 200mm F4 newt, redcat 51 and an samyang 135  Cameeras are all 4/3 sensors - an ASI294 and an altair 269c  I have an EQR6 and a CEM40 (this was bought from Steve)

Looking forward to hopefully getting a few of my targets in the que over the next few months

Cheers

Paul

Welcome to the Pier 1 Syndicate Paul. We've had some great data and some fabulous images (at least from consortium members with more processing skills than have!). After the October maintenance visit, we should have access to unbinned data instead of 2x2. That should give us more options.

Brush up your target list and whack them in! The advice I was given from the team was:

  • The best sky is from North-East round to South
  • Look for targets that are rising early in the morning. The piers sometimes go idle later in the night because we all have a tendency to target what is overhead, and don't make good use of the hours before dawn.

Look forward to seeing your chosen targets and the results.
