I just joined to see if I can use and like Roboscope. I’m going to call my first test a success since it demonstrates a newbie can get reasonably good data without a real clue as to what they are doing. I have been learning by processing data on a few DSOs captured on a rented telescope in the Utah desert. Those were high quality data sets so the images are nice and I have able to learn a bit about processing.  This will give me a chance to learn about making my own choices on target, equipment, and settings.  I setup my first project on the fly while packing for a trip to the beach- a couple of hours of the Pelican Nebula in 120 seconds subs on Pier 11.

I couldn’t resist giving it a look, although working on PCs at home over Chrome Remote from an iPad is a PITA, exacerbated by the fact that the faster of my two machines chose this morning to not come back from an update. In any event, I was unable to get Siril going through it’s built in OSC preprocessing script or Sirilic. I will have to wait until I get home to figure that out. I did get an output through DSS but it’s grayscale instead of RGB. I think I will wait till I get home to figure that out. Rather than mess around with Siril to stretch my mono image, I just gave it a quick stretch in Gimp. The result looks pretty good to my naive eyes. I will take a bit more care on object #2 when I get home.

Good start, lets see how you get on with colour when you get home :)

Congrats on the first image and welcome! I recently joined Pier 2 and am also pretty new. I'm on a similar journey, practiced processing with some other datasets, then some datasets from other users here on Pier 2, and then identified my own first targets. It's fun getting to learn step by step and being able to use such great data and equipment. Update us on how it goes when you combine your channels!

nicely done for your first image....Pier 11 is a stunning setup especially with the new filters system we have put in. It allows you to get full narrow band with the colour sensor if you wanted....

I'm sure you will get the hang of processing the OSC in no time....make sure you set the debayer to RGGB, this is the correct configuration for colour conversion on this sensor.

hope that helps
