Hi fellows,
having started to use PixInsight and getting acceptable results for monochrome datasets as of Pier 1, I am challenged with an issue on data from OSC cameras like Pier 5:
First the automatic Debayer didn´t find the correct Pattern, so I looked it up and manually selected RGGB as specified by the ASI camera spec. Check.
Now all Pier 5 datasets I stacked and integrated via Weighted Batch Preprocessing have a strong green background.
OK, thats why we have the powerfull DBE-Process in PixinSight - but unfortunatly DBE won´t be able to neutralize the colors?! Yes, I did check "Normalize" in the Target Imge correction field and also reapllied the STF-function afterwards ;-)
Next I tried to neutralize the green background by using the SCNR process, which is dedicated for such issues.
But even when using it very carefully I do get rid of the green background - but then a yellow - orange background appears.
What am I doing wrong?
Any suggestion on a workflow for Pier 5 data which results in neutral colors?
Thanks!
Hi
for color calibration you can use the PhotometricColorCalibration Process.
it is very robust, it will first astrometircs solve your image and then compare the color of your stars with the color of star registered in some database.
it make a good job for osc camera.
You can also use a script named "Autocolor" , i ve found it somewhere in the internet, cant remember where.
or you can split the color channel , then make a linear fit of each channel with the median channel. It will result in a balanced image .
I prefere to use the PhotometricColorCalibration .

Thanks Florent!
I did try the Photometric color calibration before but couldn´t get it to work.
So I retried it now and this time - success ;-)
Attached you´ll find my first OSC image of Pier 5 with PixInsight, little bit of post-processing in AffinityPhoto.
IC405 & IC410 of job 1430.

We now have the Spectrophotometric Color Calibration routine in Pixinsight and it is even better.
I had a few stumbles downloading and adding the right Gaia calibration datasets, but a couple of YouTube videos sorted me out. It's a great step forward.
I always use it with a Preview of what I think the background looks like as the Region of Interest.
