Hello all,
A few months ago a B78 mosaic was submitted and removed due to camera change. I would like to submit this mosaic again. With the Zwo Asi 2400MC pro we only need 4 panels. I would suggest exposing each panel for 7 hours. I would like to get to 5 hours per panel. The other 2 hours will serve as a spare. In case some data needs to be sorted out. What do you think of this proposal.

CS and kind regards
Darius

Looks a great target.

One thing that was impressed on me when I joined Pier 5 is that it is FAST. Will it really require 7 hours per panel?

We don't get much imaging time on these low declination objects. Could we manage with 2 or 3 hours per panel? I don't know the answer, perhaps Steve (@Asatron), the dark nebula guru, can advise.

Pete would most likely do it with 2/3 hours a pane if I am honest but I would personally take 4hrs to be safe, I agree in my experience this F/2.8 scope does not need so many hours for such a bright part of the sky. However the extra hour will make it special :)

As I have said a few times before it's exponential scale so F/2.8 is twice the data in the same amount of time as F/4 which is already very fast

so if you take 10 hours of data at F/8 then:

  • F/8 = 10 hours data
  • F/5.6 = 5 hours for the same amount of data as F/8
  • F/4 = 2.5 hours for the same amount of data as F/8
  • F/2.8 = 1.25 hours for the same amount of data as F/8

However that's for you lot to sort out and decide, I was just adding my 2-cents worth :)

Ps dont forget you can always add more if you feel it needs it

Please ignore my dylexia wherever possible, just be thankful I can control my Tourettes ;)

Things to do, so little time!

I admit that 7 hours is a bit much. Especially because there is not so much good weather right now. My suggestion is that we first expose 5 hours per panel. If we need more we can add more jobs.

Go for it. I would still go for a shorter integration time, but it is your image.
