I had often thought that Steve's face looked familiar but could never quite work out where I'd seen it. Finally I twigged. Just imagine him with a white beard and wearing a red coat and hat lined with white fur and in black leather boots. Granted not exactly a pretty sight, however, many thanks Steve for the pressie. :)

Wow, thanks all   What a dataset!

After the purchase of a new external drive - a total clear-out of old processing and storage drives, repartitioning of the OS partition to resolve space issues, then cleaning of fans etc to avoid some high temperatures during preprocessing

So many stars - I has to change my star detection parameters so that my poor processor didn't melt!

I didin't look at other interpretations during processing so I think I may have been too subtle in my introduction  of the Ha data - But I wanted to keep a decent dynamic range in the nebula itself.  Will have another go when my pc decides it likes me again

Happy New Year

Hi Ray,

well, despite your disappointment, this is a very nice interpretation of the available data. Thanks for sharing.

Cheers

Well despite the enormous amount of data gathered, I'm disappointed by my efforts on this nebula. I was in two minds as to whether or not to post this one. Please don't let this put you off from doing it.

Steve,

I thought there may have been some mistake when I first saw the size of the zipped data file, over 60 gigabytes. However, a few hours later there it was, all 60 odd gigabytes in my download folder.

After unzipping you'll find that you will have almost 900 files and another 100 gigabytes less space on the drive. All in all that equates to about 50 hours of integration time, a bit more than the 28 you mentioned Steve. Never thought I'd ever say this but, hopefully this will reduce by a fair bit after discarding any suspect data.

So, anyone up for a bit of a challenge?

Cheers,

Ray

LOL, that will test your new PC Ray :)
